Gottfried Wagner (2013)

Gottfried Helferich Wagner (born April 13, 1947 in Bayreuth ) is a German director and publicist.

Life

Gottfried Wagner is the son of Ellen Drexel and Wolfgang Wagner , great-grandson of Richard Wagner and great-great-grandson of Franz Liszt . He did his doctorate on Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht . In numerous publications he dealt primarily with German culture and politics as well as Jewish history in the 19th and 20th centuries. Gottfried Wagner has been a co-founder of the Post- Holocaust Dialogue Group since 1992 . He has lived in Italy since 1993. He is a member of the PEN Center Germany . He fell out with his father's family and came out publicly by criticizing the Wagner family's entanglement with the Nazi regime .
