Gotthard shoemaker

Gotthard Schuster (* 1674 in Langenhessen ; † 1761 in Zwickau ) was a Protestant theologian and hymn poet.

He was born as the son of pastor Gottfried Schuster († 1684). Schuster first attended the grammar school in Altenburg , from 1697 the University of Leipzig , where he obtained the title of Magister in 1700. In 1702 he became a catechist in Paunsdorf near Leipzig, 1703 pastor in Stenn southwest of Zwickau , 1706 protodiacon at the Katharinenkirche in Zwickau, 1727 archdeacon of the St. Mary's Church .
