Gottlieb Olpp

Gottlieb Olpp (born January 3, 1872 in Gibeon (village) , † August 4, 1950 in Esslingen am Neckar ) was a German tropical medicine .

Life

He was born the son of a Rhenish missionary and worked from 1898 to 1907 as a missionary doctor in subtropical southern China, where he had gained experience in tropical and travel medicine. He then returned to Germany and was director of the German Institute for Medical Missions ( Difäm ) in Tübingen from 1909 to 1937 and of the Tübingen Tropical Convalescence Home, now the Paul Lechler Hospital Tropical Clinic . At the University of Tübingen he represented research and teaching in tropical medicine as part of his professorship .
