The Goumda-Tambari Dam is a dam in the region of Zinder in Niger .
Building description
Her name in the official French language is barrage de Goumda Tambari . An alternative spelling to Goumda Tambari is Gounda Tambari .
The Goumda Tambari Dam is located southwest of the village of Goumba Tambari in the area of the rural municipality of Garagoumsa , which is part of the Takeita department in the Zinder region. It dams a dry valley next to the Korama . The reservoir has a volume of 1.5 million m³.
The plant is used for agricultural purposes. Livestock areas have been marked around the dam. In the reservoir, Nile tilapia and Nile perch as well as predatory catfish and spiny catfish ( Bagrus bajad ) were released in order to generate additional sources of income from fishing for the local population.
history
The Goumda Tambari Dam was built in 2008. It was built as part of an aid project financed by the African Development Bank for agricultural development in the Zinder region. The aid project lasted from January 2003 to June 2009 and cost a total of 6.4 billion CFA francs . In the course of the project, other dams were built: the Bakatsiraba dam , the Bani Walki dam , the Bargouma dam , the Kassama dam and the Toumbala dam .
