Takeita is a department in the region of Zinder in Niger .

geography

The department is located in the south of the country. It consists of the rural parishes of Garagoumsa , Dakoussa and Tirmini . The eponymous capital of the department is Takeita .

history

The department goes back to the poste administratif of Takeita, which was established in 1988. In 2011, the administrative post was removed from the Mirriah department and elevated to the Takeita department.

population

The Takeita department has 249,036 inhabitants according to the 2012 census. From 2001 to 2012, the population increased by an average of 4.7% annually (nationwide: 3.9%).

At the head of the department is a prefect (French: préfet ) who is appointed by the Council of Ministers on the proposal of the Minister of the Interior .
