Dakoussa is a rural municipality in the department Takeita in Niger .

geography

Dakoussa is located in the Sahel region . The neighboring communities are Olléléwa in the northwest, Wamé in the northeast, Albarkaram in the east, Gaffati in the southeast, Zinder in the southwest and Tirmini in the west. The municipality is divided into 41 administrative villages, 69 traditional villages and 81 hamlets. The main town of the rural municipality is the administrative village of Dakoussa.

history

The French colonial administration taught early 20th century, a canton in Dakoussa a certain the canton chief of the Sultan of Zinder. In 2002, as part of a nationwide administrative reform, the canton Dakoussa became the rural municipality of Dakoussa. Since 2011, the rural community no longer belongs to the Mirriah department , but to the newly founded Takeita department.

Economy and Infrastructure

Dakoussa is in a zone where agropastoralism is practiced. The Bargouma Dam is used for agricultural purposes. National road 11 runs through the rural community between the town of Zinder in the south and the town of Agadez in the north, which is around 420 kilometers away by road . The large administrative village of Aroungouza is located directly on the national road, still in the municipality of Dakoussa.
