The city center

The Kuhgasse in the district town of Düren ( North Rhine-Westphalia ) is an old inner-city street .

The street connects Josef-Schregel-Straße with Philippstraße . In 2004/2005 the street was divided by the construction of the StadtCenter . The center is on Kuhgasse and therefore has the postal address Kuhgasse 8. The eastern part of Kuhgasse ends at the entrance to the StadtCenter at Max-Oppenheim-Platz, the western part forms the access to the integrated parking garage at the rear of the building.

history

In his city map from 1634, Wenzel Hollar already shows the extension of the “Wieler Benden” ( Arnoldsweilerstraße ).

The Kuhgasse probably got its name from the fact that the cattle (cows) used to be driven from the freight yard in the Arnoldsweilerstraße through this street to the slaughterhouse . The extension of the street over Philippstrasse to Paradiesstrasse , planned by the city council in 1899 , was never carried out.

The Protestant parish hall, which housed an emergency church after the war, stood on the grounds of the StadtCenter until its construction .
