Administration building of the slaughterhouse

The Düren slaughterhouse is located in the district town of Düren in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The slaughterhouse at Paradiesstrasse 19 was opened on July 3, 1901. It was owned by the city and operated by the city until around 1977, when it was sold to a private entrepreneur who still operates it today.

The administration building is a two-storey representative brick building in neo-renaissance forms on a stone plinth . On the building there is a corner tower-like porch with a double slate hood and clock. The gable is a tail gable with obelis accessories.

The building is entered under No. 1/003 in the list of monuments of the city of Düren.

At the end of 2017, the slaughterhouse got into the press for alleged cruelty to animals, etc.

On May 6, 2019, about 30 animal rights activists occupied the slaughterhouse. The occupation was ended by the police after 14 hours.
