Paradiesstrasse (Düren)
Paradiesstraße is a historical street name in the district town of Düren ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).
The street begins at Paradiesplatz ( Tivolistraße ) and ends at Veldener Straße in Düren-Nord . It is crossed by a bridge on the Cologne – Aachen high-speed line and the Düren – Heimbach line.
The listed Reformed and Lutheran cemetery , which was occupied from 1587 to 1825, is located on Paradiesstrasse . It can be reached via the site of the privatized slaughterhouse, the administration building of which is a listed building. Right next to it is part of the former Düren sugar factory . The Düren service company , the former municipal vehicle fleet, is located on the site today . At the corner of Glashüttenstrasse was the power station of Stadtwerke Düren .
history
The name refers to the Wilhelmitenkloster founded in 1252 by Anselm von Drove , Vogt zu Düren , which was called "Zum Paradies". It was canceled in 1536/37. The new monastery Neu Paradies am Höfchen was destroyed in 1543 and not rebuilt.
In 1685 the street was called Paradieser Weg , but the names Reformed Religions Kirchweg and cavitte (kalviner) Acker were also used.
