Hofchen (Düren)
The Höfchen in the district town of Düren ( North Rhine-Westphalia ) is an old inner-city street .
location
The street connects Annaplatz with Kämergasse . The street used to be in the narrow maze of houses in the old town within the Düren city fortifications .
At the confluence with Steinweg stood the Gewandhaus , which was completely destroyed in the air raid on November 16, 1944 .
history
The farm was first mentioned in a document in 1441. However, the path is said to be considerably older and already existed at the time of the Carolingian royal palace . In 1498 the courtyard is attested as "Augustiner- or Predigergasse" because the Augustinerhof used to stand there, a nursing home of the Cologne Augustinian hermits .
The Stiftisches Gymnasium used to be on the corner of Annaplatz .
In March 2018 the city council decided to rename part of the street to Pastor-Gombert-Straße.
