Tesker is a department in the region of Zinder in Niger .
geography
The department is located in the south of the country. It extends over the area of the rural municipality of the same name Tesker . In elections to the National Assembly, the Tesker department forms one of eight special constituencies across the country. While the regular constituencies, in which a certain number of MPs are elected, correspond to the eight regions of Niger, those entitled to vote in the special constituencies each elect their own MP. history
The department goes back to the administrative post ( poste administratif ) of Tesker, which was established in 1978. In 2011, the administrative post was removed from the Gouré department and elevated to the Tesker department.
population
According to the 2012 census, the Tesker department has 38,128 inhabitants. From 2001 to 2012, the population increased by an average of 4.3% annually (nationwide: 3.9%).
