Mitch Morgan (born January 31, 1991 ) is a Belgian - Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HYC Herentals again since 2014 and plays with the club in the Belgian-Dutch BeNe League . His father Bill and his brothers Vincent and Ben were and are also professional ice hockey players.

Career

Mitch Morgan comes from the youth department at HYC Herentals . In 2006 he moved to the U18 team of the Cologne EC and played there for two years in the German junior league , which he won with his team in 2007. In 2008, he moved to the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec , where he played for a year with the Foreurs de Val-d'Or , who had drawn him in the second round of the 2008 CHL Import Draft as the 71st player. From 2009 he was under contract with his parent club HYC Herentals for five years. First he played there in the Belgian honor division and from 2010 to 2012 in the Belgian-Dutch North Sea Cup . In 2012 he was Belgian champion and cup winner with the club from Flanders . After this success and due to the termination of the North Sea Cup, he moved with his club to the Dutch honor division , in which Herentals has been the only Belgian team since then. In 2013 he won the Belgian Cup again with Herentals. In 2014 he moved to the French Ligue Magnus , where he was on the ice at HC Morzine-Avoriaz . But after only a year he returned to Herentals and played in the newly founded Belgian-Dutch BeNe League , the first season of which the team won straight away, which also included the Belgian championship title in 2016. Also in 2017 and 2018 he was Belgian champion with the team. He was also able to win the national cup competition with the Flemings in 2016 and 2017.

International

For Belgium Morgan took part in the junior division of the U-20 World Championships 2010 and 2011 in Division II.

Morgan played for the men's national team even before his World Junior Championship appearances. He took part in the World Championships of Division II in 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , 2015 and 2017 , whereby in 2012 he was promoted from the B to the A group of Division II. This year he was not only the second best scorer of the tournament after compatriot Olivier Roland with 21 points, but was also named the best assists (15 assists). In 2015 he was the top scorer with his compatriot Bryan Kolodziejczyk and the Serbian Marko Sretović and together with the Romanian Ede Mihály he was the top scorer of the tournament. In 2017 he was the top scorer with the Romanian Ede Mihály and the Serbian Marko Sretović, as well as the Serbian Dominik Crnogorac and the Australian Lliam Webster behind the Romanian Roberto Gliga, the second best goal setter of the tournament.
