The North Sea Cup was an ice hockey league hosted by the Nederlandse IJshockey Bond (NIJB) , in which the best Dutch and Belgian ice hockey clubs take part. It was carried out for the first time in the 2010/11 season . The 2010/11 season began on November 5, 2010 and ended with the final on February 27, 2011, which HYS The Hague won.
In the summer of 2012, the North Sea Cup was dissolved as an independent competition, instead Belgian clubs receive a game permit for the Dutch Eredivisie . In 2015, the idea of the North Sea Cup was taken up again with the merging of the Dutch Eredivisie and the Belgian Eredivisie to form the BeNe League .

In the 2010/11 season, nine teams took part in the league, seven from the Netherlands and two from Belgium. The Zoetermeer Panters had to stop playing during the season for financial reasons. For the 2011/12 season the league was increased to 10 teams, with the Amsterdam Capitals and the Chiefs Leuven new.

The clubs involved play a double round. The first two of the table qualified for the final of the North Sea Cup, with the table first having home rights.
For the Dutch representatives, the North Sea Cup is the main round of the Eredivisie , whose playoffs they play after the North Sea Cup. The Belgian representatives are involved in the Belgian Cup before and during the North Sea Cup, and after the North Sea Cup they play the Belgian champions .
