Marko Sretović ( Serbian - Cyrillic Марко Сретовић ; born August 10, 1987 in Belgrade , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Stenungsund HF in Swedish Division 2 since 2017 .

Career

Marko Sretović began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HK Partizan Belgrade . Since 2002 the striker has played for the club's first team in the Serbian ice hockey league (until 2006: Serbian-Montenegrin ice hockey league) and was national champion with the team in 2006, 2007 and 2008. At the same time, he also took part with his team in the multinational Pannonian league in the 2007/08 season and was runner-up there. The following season he moved to HK Vojvodina Novi Sad and played for the team from the southern Batschka also in the Serbian ice hockey league and the Pannonian league, which Sretović's team won. He returned to his home club in 2009 and won the Serbian championship title with him again in 2010, 2011 and 2012. At the same time, he played with his club in the Slohokej League , which was dominated by Slovenia and won the 2011 and 2012 team. After these successes, he moved to Scandinavia in January 2013, where he first played in the fourth-rate Swedish Division 2 . After he was first active with the Lund Giants , he moved to class rivals Vänerborgs HC in the summer of 2013 . After relegating his team to fifth-class Division 3 in 2014 , he returned to Division 2 after just one year. Since 2017, he has also played in Division 2 at Stenungsund HF .

International

For Serbia and Montenegro, Sretović took part in the Division II competitions of the U-18 World Championships in 2003 , 2004 and 2005 and the U-20 World Championships in 2003 , 2004 , 2005 and 2006 . After the breakaway of Montenegro, he took part in the 2007 U-20 World Cup for the all-Serbian team .

In the men's area, Sretović made his international debut in November 2004 in qualifying for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin in the Serbian-Montenegrin selection . At the 2006 World Cup he represented the country in Division II. Then he was active for the Serbian team and played with them in 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2011 when he was named the best player of his team, in 2012 , 2013 , 2015 when he was the top scorer of the tournament together with the Belgians Mitch Morgan and Bryan Kolodziejczyk and was also voted the best player of his team in 2016 , 2017 , when he was the top scorer together with the Romanian Ede Mihály and the Belgian Mitch Morgan and behind Morgan and his compatriot Dominik Crnogorac Together with the Romanian Mátyás Bíró, he was the third best preparer of the tournament and also achieved the best plus / minus balance, and in 2018 in Division II. After the Serbs were promoted for the first time at the home tournament in Novi Sad in 2009 , Sretović played with his team 2010 in Division I, but had to accept the immediate relegation. He himself scored the Serbs' first ever goal in Division I in the 2:15 defeat against Ukraine with the goal of the meanwhile 1: 1. He also took part for Serbia in the qualifying tournaments for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and 2014 in Sochi .
