Olivier Roland (born March 2, 1984 in Québec , Canada ) is a Belgian - Canadian ice hockey player who has been playing for the Cold Play Sharks in the Belgian National League Division 1 since 2016 .

Career

Olivier Roland began his career with the Sainte-Foy governors in a lower class junior league in the province of Québec . In 2000 he was drafted in the fifth round of the QMHL Entry Draft by the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. From 2003 to 2007 he played for the Union College in Schenectady team , which plays in the ECAC Hockey League , one of the conferences of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . He then moved to Europe and initially played for Rouen Hockey Elite 76 in Ligue Magnus . With the team he was able to win both the French championship title and the league cup straight away . He then moved to Nybro Vikings IF in HockeyAllsvenskan , but returned to Rouen at the end of 2008. In 2009 he moved to Belgium, where he played in the honor division with IHC Leuven and also took part in the North Sea Cup in 2011/12 . With the team from the university town, he won the Belgian title in 2010 and 2013 . After winning the second title, he temporarily ended his career. Since 2016 he has been playing for the Cold Play Sharks from Mechelen in the second-rate Belgian National League Division 1 .

International

For the Belgian national team , Roland took part in the World Championships in Division II in 2012 and 2018 , with promotion from group B to group A in 2012. Roland contributed to this promotion as top scorer, top scorer (together with his teammate Vincent Morgan ), second best goal setter (behind Mitch Morgan ) and player with the best plus / minus balance and was consequently also voted the best player on his team.
