The Govi media program is an imprint of the Avoxa media group . The aim of the publishing activity is to provide a practice-oriented range of specialist information that pharmacies need in order to fully fulfill their supply mandate and to be economically successful in the healthcare market.

Publishing program

The Govi media offer specializes in pharmacy and related natural sciences. It includes textbooks and workbooks for pharmacy studies and PTA training, specialist books on pharmaceutical consulting topics, loose-leaf works, software, online databases and documentation materials on pharmacy practice. Patient guides for pharmacy customers appear under the series title “Health with the pharmacy”.

The standard pharmaceutical works of the German Drug Codex and the New Prescription Form (DAC / NRF) as well as the two-volume standard work on the history of pharmacy, the history of pharmacy by Rudolf Schmitz , have appeared in the publishing program .

Sales are primarily carried out via the company's own mail order bookstore with an online shop, from which products from other publishers with a focus on pharmacy and medicine can also be obtained.

Publishing history

On April 9, 1949 Govi-Verlag was founded by Dr. Hans Meyer and Josef von Fisenne founded. The ABDA - Federal Association of German Pharmacists' Associations , in the development of which both were significantly involved, should be supported by its own publishing house and an associated newspaper. The publishing house has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of ABDA since 1953. Unfortunately, no one can say for sure where the unusual name "Govi" comes from. Presumably, "Govi" is derived from the second family name of the Fisennes. These have been nicknamed "de Gouvy" since the end of the 15th century. Gouvy and Fisenne are also the names of two localities in the Belgian Ardennes.

On July 1, 2016, Govi-Verlag was merged with Werbe- und Vertriebsgesellschaft Deutscher Apotheker mbH (WuV) and the IT / EDP and technical services divisions of VGDA - Verwaltungsgesellschaft Deutscher Apotheker mbH to form Avoxa - Mediengruppe Deutscher Apotheker GmbH.
