Dalfsen burial ground
The Neolithic burial ground of Dalfsen , a municipality in the province of Overijssel in the Netherlands , was presented as the largest known Neolithic burial ground in Western Europe after the excavations were completed in 2015 . The cemetery in Dalfsen, which belongs to the funnel cup culture (TBK), is around 5000 years old and 120 by 20 meters in size. 120 shallow graves (some with corpse shadows) were uncovered and 160 grave goods secured. These include shards of numerous funnel beakers and complete specimens, hatchets and knives made of flint and pearls made of amber . A special feature are the remains of a dolmen , the first find of a megalithic complex of this type in the Netherlands, where otherwise only passage graves and stone boxes have been discovered.
