Grønland kirke is a church , built in 1868 and on which the Grønlandsleiret 34 in the district of Greenland in Gamle Oslo in Oslo is. The architect of the church was Wilhelm von Hanno , who came from Germany and immigrated to Norway . The church belongs to the diocese of Oslo of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Norway and was consecrated in 1869.

The church was built in the neo-Romanesque style with a visible red brick facade and has 800 seats.

In 1969, the interior of the church received a new color scheme based on research and templates by the architect Odd Helland . The new colors are slightly weaker than the previous original ones.

The interior of the church is otherwise still equipped with the relatively well-preserved original interior. The pulpit and the stalls in the nave were renewed in 1949 according to the plans of the Oslo city architect. Behind the altar are five stained glass windows by an unknown artist. They depict Jesus Christ and his disciples preaching the Gospel in various poses. In 1988 the church was extensively renovated.

Directly at the church is the attached community cemetery. The parish of Grønland Church was founded in 1861. The parish owns and operates the Vestasol leirsted outskirts with a holiday camp or campsite, which is located on a beach in the Tettsted Larkollen outside of the Moss municipality . In the main building there, there are also social gatherings and discussions of the parish members and their supporters in order to maintain the location for their cooperation and efforts.

The church has its own parish at Grønlandsleiret 41, while the parish office and staff are located elsewhere in Gamle Oslo at Grønlandsleiret 31. Since January 1, 2013, the Gamlebyen Church and the Grønland Parish have also formed a joint parish ( Sogn in Norwegian ) with the Grønland kirke as the main church and a leading pastor of the parish ( Sokneprest ). The newly merged parish operates under the name Gamlebyen-Grønland . The Gamlebyen kirke (old town church) has only been used as a simple parish church since then.
