Green space on Schittgablerstrasse

The green space on Schittgablerstrasse is a 3.75 hectare park in the Lerchenau district of Munich . It was inaugurated in autumn 2019.

The park has a toboggan hill with a large swing, a cable car, table tennis tables, a football and basketball court, a skater track, a playground, a playground and 111 trees.

history

The green area is located in the area of the Lerchenau colony built around 1920 . The species-rich Magerwiese and Ruderalflur south of Schittgablerstrasse was considered one of the most species-rich fallow areas in the city in the 1990s until it was developed into an industrial area in 2011 . In particular, it was one of the best and last occurrences of the spring moth ( Erebia medusa ) in the urban area of Munich. Other butterfly species occurring there included Aricia agestis , Polyommatus bellargus , Plebeius idas and Spialia sertorius. From 2016, the commercial area was partially demolished and Knorr-Bremse built today's park for around 1.8 million euros. As of 2016, 96 percent of the soil was contaminated with pollutants due to its earlier commercial use, which is why the area was sealed and covered over. The area is owned by Knorr-Bremse, but is used by the public.
