riz up is the founding agency of the state of Lower Austria .

history

At the beginning of 1987 the Regional Innovation Centers (RIZ), a concept for the economic revitalization of the Lower Austria South region. A start-up center was to be built in Wiener Neustadt - on the site that is now an ecoplus business park, which also houses the university of applied sciences and the technology and research center. In the years 1989 to 1992 the RIZ increasingly developed into a driving force for the region and a platform for business, industry and research. RIZ's task was to advise founders and to find their home in the start-up center.

Four further locations were established between 1996 and 1998 in southern Lower Austria. In 1997 the planning and establishment of a network of further regional innovation centers in Lower Austria, the provision of infrastructure, advice and coaching as well as the transfer of know-how to the regions were defined as future tasks of the RIZ. Further founder's offices were opened from 1999 to 2000 in Hollabrunn , Mistelbach , Gänserndorf , Waidhofen an der Ybbs and Krems . Construction began on the new start-up centers in Amstetten , Berndorf and Hollabrunn. In 2006 the RIZ was restructured and renamed the RIZ Niederösterreichs Gründeragentur . The RIZ new start-up service was expanded to cover the whole of Lower Austria, new advisory offices were opened in St. Pölten , Wiener Neudorf and Gmünd , and cooperation with all start-up-relevant organizations was strengthened.

For the anniversary (30 years), the name was changed to riz up in 2018 .

The company is owned by Ecoplus  GmbH, Lower Austria's economic development agency , and is therefore 100% owned by the state. The agendas of the ecoplus are therefore also subordinate to the office of the regional council for economy.
