Grünhöfe (Bremerhaven)

Grünhöfe is a district of the Geestemünde district in the southern district of the municipality of Bremerhaven in the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen .
Grünhöfe borders the Bürgerpark district in the north, the Surheide district in the east, the Wulsdorf district in the south and the Geestemünde-Süd district in the west.
At the end of 2018, 6349 inhabitants lived in the district.
It covers an area of ​​3.19 km²

history

At the end of 1954, the new building project “Gartenstadt Grüne Höfe auf dem Weißenstein” began. In the course of time, the short name Grünhöfe became common for the entire district. By 1961, multi-storey houses, row houses and single houses were built for almost 10,000 people.
In 1958 the Wilhelm Busch School was opened, and in 1959 the Fritz Reuter School. In 1965 a gym and a teaching pool were built.

In 1967 the Protestant Petruskirche was completed according to plans by Carsten Schröck , Bremen. The parish hall according to plans by Gerd Krüger was built by 1960.

In 1961 an open-air swimming pool was built, framed by the Grünhöfe district sports facility and the Grünhöfe allotment gardens. Gradually, the Weißenstein industrial area was created. The Nordsee printing center is located in the new Poristraße industrial park next to the 27 federal motorway , where the Nordsee-Zeitung is printed.

The service center Grünhöfe (DLZ) opened in September 2000. It offers multifunctional services in the social field. The facility is a central point of contact in the Grünhöfe district.

Public transport

Since 1957, the district has been made accessible by bus traffic; since 1964 as line 3 and since 1982 as line 2. Line 8 served the eastern area since 1969

In 2020 the offer consists of the bus routes 502, 503, 509 and ML.
