The Graafsebrug is a road bridge over the Maas-Waal Canal in the Dutch municipality of Nijmegen . It crosses the Provincial Road N 326 .
history
In 1924 the first half-timbered bridge was built . On May 10, 1940, the day of the invasion of the German Wehrmacht, a Dutch team of engineers blew up . The bridge was rebuilt during the Second World War . However, it was again badly damaged in Operation Market Garden on September 17, 1944. The current bridge was built between 1973 and 1974 as part of the widening of the Maas-Waal Canal to replace its predecessor. On March 4, 2008, an elevation of the bridge by 35 centimeters was completed. The intention was to allow larger container ships to navigate the canal.
