Mizy's grave

The grave of Mizy is a deep earth grave that was discovered in 1861 on the grounds of Hof Mizy in Leuvrigny , near Reims in the Marne department in France .

Under a group of slabs of rock that form the ceiling is a burial space sunk 4.6 m into the ground, in which skeletons and grave goods have been found. The room is about 3.0 m wide, with heights between 0.7 and 1.25 m. It contained the remains of 133 people of all ages, polished axes and knives made of flint , deer antlers, chalk rings, a fragment of slate , teeth from bear and deer, and pottery.
