Supraśl burial mound
The finds in the 4000 year old hill of Supraśl in Podlasie in northeastern Poland , near the border with Belarus, belong to the bell-cup culture . They were founded in 2014 by Dr. Dariusz Manasterski, Dr. Katarzyna Januszek, Archaeological Institute of the University of Warsaw and Adam Wawrusiewicz from the Muzeum Podlaskie in Białystok excavated as part of a research project. The shards of decorated cups and bowls of the bell-beaker culture were found in Supraśl in a burial mound on the highest point of the terminal moraine together with burned bones. Supraśl is the most easterly recognized site of this culture and is largely isolated. The next comparable finds come from southern Poland and the Złota culture .
A fragment of an amber bead was found in the grave , a second amber object nearby. It is the oldest amber object in Podlasie. It contained stone tools, including an adze and an arrow shaft straightener. Fragments of a dagger were found along with a curved knife, arrowheads, and flint blades . The find is unusual for East Central Europe and contains one of the richest collections of objects that are otherwise only known from elite graves in Western Europe.
