The A904 road is an A-road in the Scottish Council Areas Edinburgh , West Lothian and Falkirk . It connects the villages on the south bank of the Firth of Clyde between South Queensferry and Falkirk .

course

The A904 begins at a roundabout over the A90 (Edinburgh– Fraserburgh ) on the edge of South Queensferry and south of the Forth Road Bridge . The road runs west and after a short distance reaches West Lothian. Bordering the grounds of Hopetoun House along the southern edge, the A904 runs largely parallel to the M9 for around five kilometers . In the scattered settlement of Champany in the Council Area Falkirk, the A904 takes on the A803 coming from Glasgow , where it will ultimately end itself.

It forms the main thoroughfare of Muirhouses and then runs through the center of the small town of Bo'ness . The A993 branches off south of the city and runs through the southern parts of Bo'ness and joins the A904 to the west. The A706 coming from Lanark joins the center . Bounding the Kinneil House property to the north, the A904 follows the course of the Roman Antonine Wall . East of Grangemouth , the road with the Avon crosses the only river on its way and runs through the extensive facilities of the Grangemouth oil refinery .

Leading through the northern parts of the city, the A904 connects with the Grangemouth Port, one of the most important British ports and Scotland's largest container ports, to the trunk road network. The M9 crosses on the western edge of Grangemouth and the A9 ( Polmont - Scrabster ), the most important trunk road in the Scottish Highlands, about one kilometer southwest . The A904 leads to the city of Falkirk , where it ends at the A803 west of the center after a total distance of 28.5 km.
