Grabnebelfürsten was a black metal band from Bergisch Gladbach .

biography

Grabnebelfürsten was founded in 1998 by Dirk “Sturm Deiner Winter” Rehfus ( vocals , electric bass and keyboard ) and Stefan “Hochfinsterwürden” Scheidsbach ( electric guitar ). In 1998 Christian "KREisnebel" Geipel joined the band and the band released the first demo, the turn of the times - a sword for the word, a people for the flame . A year later, the next demo, Seelenpoker , followed , for which the band received some positive reviews. In 2000 the demo sacral aesthetics was released , which was recorded with the new bassist Christian "Glutsturm" Krieger. Again the band received some positive reviews and the label Ketzer Records noticed the band and offered a contract.

At the same time Hochfinsterwürden left the band. As a result, the guitarist Marcél "Der Ernst Des Lebens" Ernstt and drummer Matthias Marschhausen joined the band at the same time. The first release in the new composition was 2001 the album Von Schemen und Trugbildern . In 2003 the second album Dynastie - Or how one defines rule followed , after which it decided to return to the band after the exit of Der Ernst des Leben, Hochfinsterwürden. In 2005 the third album Schwarz gegen Weiß was released, which was released on the German label Black Attakk . In January 2008, bassist Glutsturm left the band and was replaced by Jan “Tao” Hamm, a long-time friend of the band.

At the moment the band is working on the fourth album with the planned title Pro Depressiva . First, the band announced that they would split up after the album was released, but this has since been withdrawn.

Dirk Rehfus is engaged in the bands Allvaters Zorn , Das Kammerspiel, and Kamera Obskur, as well as Grabnebelfürsten . He also runs the independent label Lost Souls Graveyard.

Band name

According to the band, the name of the group is a coincidence, behind which a kind of “fuck-off attitude” is hidden. Many pseudonyms should not necessarily be taken seriously either. Dirk Rehfus explained his pseudonym "Sturm Deiner Winter" as the result of a winter walk at night. "Translated it means to be part of the force of nature, a storm among storms that the winter blows across the country to change and create."

Music style and lyrics

The music style of Grabnebelfüsten is referred to in reviews as avant-garde black metal. The compositions are complex and varied. In the first works, the texts are primarily of a personal nature and were later devoted to "more fictional and abstract ideas, as Kafka masterfully mastered". They are often compared to Nocte Obducta because of their style .
