Schematic representation of the grader profile

The grader profile (also watch glass profile ) is a form of transverse slope in road and path construction. Its shape is similar to the roof profile , but has a slope that increases continuously from the center to the edge (so-called watch glass shape) around the surface water quickly and without damage to be able to derive. In the middle the cross slope is about 2 to 3%, at the edge the cross slope increases to 8 to 12%. The grader profile was already used in the construction of the Roman roads , today it is mainly used on rural roads with little traffic with unbound surface layers . The manufacture or repair is usually carried out there with a grader , which is also what gives the profile its name.
