Graeme Morrice (born February 23, 1959 in Edinburgh ) is a Scottish politician .

Life

Morrice was born in Edinburgh in 1959. He attended Broxburn Academy and then studied economics at Napier University . Morrice is single.

Political career

As early as 1979 Morrice joined the Labor Party . In 1987 Morrice was elected to the West Lothian Regional Council and chaired the council between 1995 and 2007. His party colleague Jim Devine , who held the mandate of the Livingston constituency , was one of those MPs who were accused of submitting fake bills to the detriment of the state in a 2009 national scandal. Although not yet convicted at the time, the Candidate Commission of the Scottish Labor Party decided not to appoint Devine to the 2010 general election . Morrice was chosen as his successor. He held the mandate for the Labor Party and subsequently moved into the British House of Commons for the first time .

In Parliament, Morrice took the position of a Parliamentary Private Secretary to John Denham , who was designated as Minister of Economics in the Labor Party's shadow cabinet . From 2012 he then held the equivalent position under the shadow Scotland Minister Margaret Curran . After the SNP won massive votes in the 2015 general election , Morrice left the House of Commons after just one term. The mandate went to the SNP candidate Hannah Bardell .
