The Graf-Eberhard-Gymnasium (GEG) in Bad Urach is a general educational, urban high school located at the foot of the Swabian Alb. It is currently attended by around 770 pupils who are taught by around 80 teachers. It is named after Count Eberhard im Barte .

history

Since 1972 the Abitur can be taken at the Graf-Eberhard-Gymnasium . Before the school was built in the 1970s, the former Latin school was housed in the Wilhelmschule buildings in downtown Bad Urach.

School program

The GEG is a general high school with a scientific and linguistic profile. In 2004 it was converted to the G8 system. Normally about 20 working groups (AGs) belong to the permanent offers of the school. The topics range from languages ​​such as French and Chinese to sports and technical offers, such as website design. The school has concluded cooperation agreements with several partners from industry. With the help of student academies, career information fairs, lectures and "School meets business", there is a close interlinking with the economy in the Ermstal. On June 17, 2010, the Graf-Eberhard-Gymnasium in Bad Urach was awarded the Career Choice SEAL from the Baden-Württemberg gGmbH (BoriS) foundation. The regular annual program of the GEG includes the project School as State , in which the students experience life and the effects of their decisions on the environment up close, and also the student exchange with schools in England (Swavesey), France (Paris), Taiwan (Taipei) and the Czech Republic.

Buildings and facilities

In addition to the main building, the school has a new building, including an extension, and two gyms. A sports field with a tartan track is also available to the grammar school and the neighboring Geschwister-Scholl-Realschule. There is also a school yard, the design of which began during the 1995 project days.

The central point of the high school is the atrium. On levels four and five there are only rooms on the outside. The center is demarcated by balustrades so that one can look down on level three. Events such as exhibitions, professional information fairs, concerts and theater performances take place regularly in the atrium.

In addition, there is an upper school library with lots of books and space for studying and working. The high school graduate and the SMV each have their own rooms. The school is equipped with media technology with several multimedia rooms, beamers, overhead projectors, flipcharts, televisions, DVD players and music systems.

The new canteen was opened in June 2006 .
