Graf Gerlachs Castle

The Graf-Gerlach castle is in Siegerland located Outbound tower castle .

The remains of its foundation walls are still to be found today on a south-western foothill of the 621 meter high Dicken Ridge at 515 meters above the village of Sohlbach . Presumably the hilltop castle , which was surrounded by a moat partially carved out of the rock and a three-meter-high ring wall, consisted of a stone tower with a half-timbered structure . The floor plan should be six by eight meters. The castle, presumably built in the 11th century according to archaeological findings, was probably abandoned as early as the 12th century. All in all, most of the findings about their history, their previous appearance and, in particular, their namesake are based only on assumptions.
