The graphic collection of the art collections and museums Augsburg is part of the municipal art collections in the Bavarian city of Augsburg , whose holdings mainly include prints from the Baroque period . The graphic collection is now part of the Augsburg art collections and museums .

location

The graphic collection is located in the Schaezlerpalais in Augsburg's old town , which also houses the German Baroque Gallery, the collection of the Karl and Magdalene Haberstock Foundation and the Rococo Festival Hall. The collection is not open to the public, but parts of the graphic collection are repeatedly shown in exhibitions in the Schaezlerpalais. Works from the 20th and 21st centuries are presented in the graphic cabinets in the H2 - Center for Contemporary Art in the Glaspalast. From July 2011, parts of the graphic collection will be regularly presented in smaller temporary exhibitions in the newly established graphic cabinet in the Höhmannhaus, the neighboring building of the Schaezlerpalais. Access to the collections takes place after prior written registration via the entrance on the ground floor of the Schaezlerpalais in Maximilianstraße ; access to the new graphic cabinet in the Höhmannhaus is free from Maximilianstraße.

Due to its central location, the graphic collection of the city of Augsburg is well connected via several tram and city bus routes of the local public transport. On the other hand, there are only a few parking spaces.

Sponsorship and operation

All holdings of the graphic collection (around 11,000 drawings and 30,000 graphic prints) are the property of the city of Augsburg, although only a small part can actually be seen in the graphic cabinet or exhibitions in the Schaezlerpalais and H2. Like all houses of the art collections and museums in Augsburg (Naturmuseum, Roman Museum, Maximilianmuseum, Schaezlerpalais, Mozarthaus, Neue Galerie im Höhmannhaus, H2 - Center for Contemporary Art in the Glaspalast), the graphic collection is also administered, maintained and financed by the Augsburg municipality.
