Gramps (formerly GRAMPS , short for Genealogical Research and Analysis Management Programming System ) is a genealogy program for Linux , Windows and macOS .

The program enables the input, administration and output of genealogical data. It supports the popular GEDCOM format.

The data is accessed via the views lined up on the left. "Persons" lists all persons in a table. “Relationships” shows parents, siblings, partners and children to a chosen person. All known couples can be reached via “Families”. "Ancestors" is a family tree that shows up to eight generations of ancestors for the chosen person . "Events" lists all events, such as birth, marriage, death and numerous others, in chronological order. The registered locations of various events can be found under “Places”. "Geography" shows these places on a map from Google Maps or OpenStreetMap . Further access lists sources, storage locations, media and notes.

The filtered or unfiltered data can be exported in various formats, for example graphically as a family tree, textually as a book or in the form of a website . The choice of people can be made very finely. Numerous fields are available for formulating selection rules. To link several rules, you can choose whether at least one, exactly one or all rules must be fulfilled. The selection result can also be reversed, so that precisely those people are recorded for whom the rules do not apply.

Through a plug-in - interface Gramps can be extended. There are several dozen of such extensions called "gramplets". Some are officially part of the program package, others add-ons of different quality that can be installed later. Gramps supports over 30 languages.
