The Grand Hotel Cesenatico is a luxury hotel in the Italian municipality of Cesenatico . It is a listed building and, along with the Grattacielo di Cesenatico, is one of the two landmarks of the place.

history

The grand hotel was built at the instigation of the industrialist Gaetano Ceschina and opened in 1928; the architect was Luigi Poletti . In the 1930s, the hotel became a popular holiday hotel, which was also visited by Benito Mussolini . After the Second World War, US soldiers were accommodated in the hotel until 1947. Several political demonstrations took place in the area in the 1960s and 1970s. At the end of the 1990s the building was listed as a historical monument.

Architecture and description

The building was rebuilt several times. An outdoor pool and the hotel's beach area were built in the 1970s. Today the yellow and brown house has elements of neoclassicism and art nouveau and has around 310 rooms.
