The Grand Mesa is a 1,300 km² large table mountain in western Colorado . It consists of a hard volcanic basalt , which has its highest point in the 3,454 m high Crater Peak. Table Mountain is roughly equally divided between Mesa County and Delta County . Within the Grand Mesa lies the Grand Mesa National Forest , which, with its over 300 lakes and a large number of campsites, is one of the most visited areas in Colorado for outdoor activities.
