Coordinates: 15 ° 42 ′ 20.1 ″  S , 47 ° 54 ′ 21.5 ″  W The Granja do Torto (officially Residência Oficial de Torto ) is next to the Palácio da Alvorada one of the official residences of the President of Brazil .

The name has its origin in the Fazenda do Riacho Torto in Brasília , on whose territory the Granja do Torto is located. The site is directly adjacent to the Brasília National Park , but is also directly connected to the government district via the Eixo Rodovíario Norte (DF-2). The first person who lived in Granja do Torto was Íris Meinberg (1908-1973), one of the directors of the Companhia Urbanizadora da Nova Capital (Novacap), the public institution responsible for the planning and construction of the new capital.

Novacap had determined that its four directors should reside in facilities designed to supply the federal district . After the inauguration of Brasília, the residences should be made available to the government, so the Granja do Torto became one of the residences of the president.

On the grounds of Granja do Torto there is a poultry farm that was built to supply Brasília with eggs and poultry meat.

Due to its rural character, the Granja do Torto is used by most presidents as a country residence, but President João Figueiredo used it as the main residence, for which the Palácio da Alvorada is actually intended.
