The Gray Nunatak is an approximately 100 m high island off the Nordenskjöld coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula , which was also described as Nunatak . It is located 4 km west of the Arctowski Nunatak in the seal islands group .
It was mapped in 1902 by participants in the Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1901–1903). Otto Nordenskjöld , leader of the expedition, named him after the whaling captain David Gray (1828-1896), who wanted to undertake an expedition to the Weddell Sea in 1891 , but had to give up due to lack of financial support.
