The Graz carriages of the Timișoara tram were a series of Hungarian horse-drawn tram cars . In the first half of 1891, the transport company called Temesvári Közúti Vaspálya Részvénytársaság (TeKöVa Rt.) Procured the total of five vehicles that had no company numbers for the local tram network . The reason for the increase in the stock was the universal exhibition for industry and agriculture , which took place between June 19 and September 30 in what was then Temesvár . With them, the traffic on the line to the factory town , which led directly past the exhibition grounds in Franz-Joseph-Park , could be reduced from two to three cars per course . It was served four times, the fifth car thus served as a reserve.

description

The cars that were subsequently procured in 1891 looked similar to the original equipment from 1869, the Spiering cars of the Timișoara tram . However, the Grazer Waggon- & Maschinen-Fabriks-Aktiengesellschaft got vorm. Joh. Weitzer from Graz this time another company got the production surcharge. Their vehicles were slightly smaller and lighter than those from the opening year, and they also had rubber springs instead of the steel springs that were previously common. In addition, they had no window panes, that is, they were only equipped with curtains as summer cars . Furthermore, the two platforms were only secured with a grid instead of being clad. Thanks to the various measures to reduce weight, the Graz wagons - instead of two or three horses like the wagons from the opening year - could be pulled by just one horse each. In addition, the single-horse carriage had only one uniform car class from the start and therefore no partition inside the car.

When the horse-drawn tram in Timișoara was switched to electrical operation on July 27, 1899, the use of the Graz wagons ended. Unlike some of the heavier Spiering cars from 1869, they were no longer used as sidecars for the electric. None of the five vehicles survived.
