The Grebin Windmill (usually referred to as Grebiner Mühle for short ) - known as Wagria since 1995 - is an old windmill in Grebin in the Plön district in Schleswig-Holstein . It is clearly visible due to its elevated position on the 54 m high Mühlenberg and is the landmark of the Grebin community.

history

The Grebiner windmill.

It is a four-storey Dutch basement mill on a stone, octagonal base (tower) clad with boards on the outside . It has a thatched roof and a cap covered with copper . Signs with the names Wagria and Anno 1851 are attached below the winged cross .

The windmill was built in 1851 - the third mill (since 1750) on this site - by the mill builder Carl Friedrich Trahn (1806–1888) from Neustadt in Holstein .

It was operated until 1947, the last time the wind drive was replaced by an electric drive. In 1963 the mill was acquired by the Grebin community and repaired in 1965 at a cost of 150,000 DM.

In 1995 the cap of the windmill was restored, which was placed under monument protection in the same year . In 1997 the municipality of Grebin decided to give it the name Wagria (after the Wagrien area ). Further extensive maintenance work was carried out in 2007.

A café is operated in the windmill during the summer months. In this context, the mill can also be viewed from the inside.
