Gregor Dorfleitner is a German economist and mathematician . He holds the Chair of Finance and Director of the Center of Finance at the University of Regensburg .

Career

After studying electrical engineering at the Ravensburg University of Cooperative Education (degree: Dipl.-Ing. (BA)), Dorfleitner studied mathematics with a minor in business administration at the University of Augsburg . He received his doctorate in 1998 under Günter Bamberg at the chair of statistics at the University of Augsburg and also completed his habilitation in 2003 at the University of Augsburg. From 2004 to 2007 he was professor for corporate finance at the Vienna University of Economics and Business . He has held the Chair of Finance since 2007 and has been Director of the Center of Finance at the University of Regensburg since 2008. Since 2010 he has also been Associate Researcher at CERMi (Center for European Research in Microfinance) in Brussels and Mons. From 2015 to 2019 he was also an editorial board member of the mega-journal Heliyon. In his research, Gregor Dorfleitner deals with FinTech , microfinance , sustainable investments and risk management .

honors and awards

  • From 1992 to 1995 scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation .
  • 128th place in the Wirtschaftswoche business economist ranking in the category of scientific life's work (2019).
  • Between 2008 and 2016, Gregor Dorfleitner and various student teams took one of the top three places in the Postbank Finance Award six times . This makes him the most successful university professor in this competition based on the prize money received.

Others

Gregor Dorfleitner has been playing drums in various bands since his youth, including in the Regensburg professors' band Wise Noise since 2010. He has also worked as a drummer with Markus Mehr on his Aroma project and with The Marble Man .
