Postbank Finance Award
The Postbank Finance Award was a prize money of € 110,000 of the most lucrative university competition in Germany. Up until 2014, the competition held by Deutsche Postbank AG was endowed with € 100,000. The Postbank Finance Award took place for the last time in 2016 and was won by the Technical University of Munich with the title “Learning to love FinTechs”. The competition was held for the 13th time in 2016.
history
The prize was advertised for the first time by Deutsche Postbank AG in 2003/2004. Every year lecturers and students from all disciplines, from Germany and abroad, are invited to the competition. These deal with a given current issue of the financial environment. A team consists of three to five students, supervised by a chair. Since the first call for proposals, a total of 299 working groups from more than 97 universities in Germany and Austria have participated in the competition (as of 2011).
The prize money will be distributed to the seven best-placed chairs and their team members. The aim of the competition is to promote young scientists. The creation of topics as well as the selection and awarding of the respective competition entries is done by a committee from the fields of business , science and media .
The media partner of the award was the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung until 2010 , which in this context also announced the FAZ Finance Essay Award . The special prize was awarded for essays that clearly illustrate complex issues on the main topic of the Finance Award and is endowed with € 5,000.
From 2011 to 2014, Die Welt was the media partner of the award, which first launched the WELT Finance Essay Award in 2012 . The winning team was rewarded with prize money of € 5,000. Like the FAZ Finance Essay Award , the prize was awarded to essays that are convincing in terms of journalistic and content-related quality and yet clearly represent complex issues.
