The HSBA Hamburg School of Business Administration (abbreviation: HSBA ) is a private , state-recognized business school in Hamburg. HSBA was founded in 2004 by Hamburg-based companies . It is supported by the HSBA Hamburg School of Business Administration non-profit GmbH . The Assembly of an Honorable Merchant (VEEK) and the HSBA Alumni Association have been involved in the university since 2019 .

President and CEO is Insa Sjurts . The board of trustees is made up of representatives from Hamburg's economy and participating companies; the University Council next university administration and professors and the students are represented. HSBA has six departments: Strategy & Leadership, Marketing & Sales, Media & IT, Maritime & Logistics, Finance & Accounting and Applied Economics.

Study and teaching

The courses are accredited by FIBAA , the HSBA itself was institutionally accredited by the Science Council on May 29, 2009 and reaccredited on October 28, 2013 and May 10, 2019 subject to conditions. Around 1000 Bachelor and Master students from 40 nations are currently studying at HSBA. She works with more than 300 companies from various industries. The three-year dual Bachelor courses “Business Administration” ( BSc ), “Business Informatics” (BSc), “Media Management” (BSc), “Logistics Management” (BSc) and “Maritime Management” (BSc) are with the participating companies has been developed and designed for training that is both scientific and useful in practice. About 30% of the lectures are held in English, the courses "Maritime Management (BSc)", "Logistics Management (BSc)" and one track "International Management (BSc)" are held entirely in English.

The HSBA also offers various master’s programs . The MSc in "Global Management & Governance" as well as the "Business Development" (MSc), "Digital Transformation & Sustainability" (MSc) and "Finance" (MSc) courses are aimed at Bachelor graduates who have already completed their studies in an economics Have completed their specialization. The "Real Estate and Leadership" (MSc) course was designed for graduates from engineering, architecture and business management bachelor courses. The "MBA Corporate Management", "MBA Shipping" and "Executive MBA" ( MBA ) courses are designed for university graduates from non-business areas who have taken on management tasks due to their careers or who are planning to do so and therefore need expanded economic know-how. Some master’s programs are under the patronage of the Assembly of an Honorable Merchant in Hamburg .

HSBA was the first university in Hamburg to receive a premium seal for two master’s programs.

The HSBA Foundation was established at the beginning of 2007 to promote application and location-related research projects by HSBA professors.

Ranking

HSBA participates in the CHE ranking and is represented in the top group in 11 of 15 categories in the business bachelor's degree programs (as of 2020). This makes the dual university one of the best in a nationwide comparison.

In 2018, HSBA took sixth place in the CHE ranking in the Bachelor's degree and is therefore also among the top performers in this area.

The European Commission has in 2009 the educational institution the Erasmus awarded University Charter, which allows students financial support for stays abroad as well as participation in the activities of the Erasmus network in 31 countries. As part of these partnerships, a summer school takes place every year.

Location

The lectures take place on the campus at Willy-Brandt-Straße 75. The building is located in downtown Hamburg, directly at the Rödingsmarkt subway station .

Extracurricular Activities

The 'HSBA Finance Conference', organized by students, has been held once a year since 2011.

The HSBA offers university sports . In 2008, together with Jacobs University Bremen, the 'Hanse Boat Race' was launched, in which rowing teams from the two universities compete against each other with a helmsman and are cheered on by the HSBA cheerleaders. The rowing team of the HSBA is supported by the rowing club Allemannia from 1866 .

In 2012 the first HSBA Hockey Cup took place with teams from the Leuphana University of Lüneburg , Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel and the International University Bad Honnef - Bonn (IUBH) . In 2014 the 'Anglo-German Hockey Trophy' had its premiere against a team from Imperial College London .

There are also numerous student committees, e.g. B. Börsen-Club, HSBA-Band, Entrepreneurs-Club, the event, international, trade fair, social and sports committee, HSBA Innovation and Model United Nations .

Eight Olympic medals (4 × gold, 1 × silver, 3 × bronze) were won by former team members of the HSBA hockey and rowing team.
