The Brand University of Applied Sciences (formerly Brand Academy - University of Design and Communication) is a private university of applied sciences with a focus on marketing . The range of courses includes German and English-language Bachelor and Master programs in the areas of brand management , brand communication and brand design.

The university was founded on June 1, 2010 as the Brand Academy - University for Design and Communication and was officially recognized by the Senate of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. Brand Academy GmbH , based in Hamburg, is responsible for the university . In September 2019, the name Brand University of Applied Sciences was officially recognized by the Hamburg Authority for Science, Research and Equality.

The campus is located in the listed building of the historic nautical school at Rainvilleterrasse 4 in Hamburg-Ottensen . The main partners are the Beijing Normal University in Zhuhai (Canton) and the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou.

Education

The prerequisite for the course is a general higher education entrance qualification recognized in Hamburg, a technical college entrance qualification, a suitable subject-specific advanced training examination as a master craftsman or specialist or an equivalent subject-specific advanced training examination. In addition, proof of special aptitude is required by successfully completing an entrance examination.

The course begins twice a year on April 1st and October 1st. The standard period of study is 6 semesters for the full-time Bachelor courses and 4 semesters for the Master’s courses.

The university offers courses leading to a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts degree . For the Bachelor's program, there is a focus on brand management (in German), communication design and digital design (in German). The English-language master’s program Brand Innovation is divided into the focal points of marketing, design and entrepreneurship.
