The NBS Northern Business School - University of Applied Sciences (NBS) is a private , state-recognized university in Hamburg . The NBS offers a degree parallel to the job , which takes place on Friday evenings and Saturday during the day in face-to-face lectures and seminars. The NBS also offers full-time courses from Monday to Friday.

history

In July 2007 the NBS Northern Business School non-profit GmbH (NBS gGmbH) was founded in Hamburg. The establishment was supported by business associations and sole proprietorships, which are still represented on the board of trustees of NBS gGmbH today. The NBS gGmbH offered part-time courses in Hamburg. The students were enrolled at the state or state-recognized partner universities throughout their studies. NBS gGmbH took on service tasks such as B. the marketing, measures within the scope of the quality control, planning of courses on site and the regional student support. The range of courses was based on regional demand and mainly included undergraduate courses in the fields of business administration , business informatics and mechanical engineering .

In 2012, the demand for courses that were not in the portfolio of the partner universities led to considerations about founding a state-recognized university sponsored by NBS gGmbH. The specific trigger for the establishment of the university was the expiry of the security management (BA) course at the Hamburg Police University in 2013.

In February 2014, the NBS Northern Business School University of Management and Security received state recognition from the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and has been offering state-recognized full-time and part-time courses since then. The Science Council accredited the NBS University on October 19, 2018. Since March 2019 the Northern Business School has had the addition "University of Applied Science" due to a successful institutional accreditation by the Hamburg Senate.

The university is run by a rectorate, which consists of the rector, the chancellor and all course directors. It is entrusted with the quality assurance of the range of courses, the operational management and the further development of the university.
