The Işık University is a private university in Sile , Istanbul Province .

history

The "Feyziye Mektepleri" Foundation established a school on December 14, 1885 called "Feyz-i Sıbyan Mektebi" in Thessaloniki . The Turkish state founder Mustafa Kemal Ataturk attended this school. After Thessaloniki became Greek, the school moved to İstanbul. In 1935, on its 50th anniversary, the name was changed to "Işık Lisesi" (which means " light high school " in Turkish ) with Ataturk's consent .

In 1996 the university of this foundation started teaching. In September 2007, foreign students came to Işık University for the first time as part of the European ERASMUS program.

campus

The Işık University campus has been located in Şile, about 50 kilometers northeast of İstanbul, directly on the Black Sea , since 2003 . On this campus there are 3 faculties , 2 institutes , research centers, 176 faculty members and around 1,800 students , of which around 330 are scholarship holders (figures from 2007).

fees

The tuition fees at Işık University amount to about 9000 US dollars per year. For scholarship holders , the fee is only half.
