building
The academy and its predecessor institutions have been housed in the building of the former Kirchenpauer grammar school in Hamburg-Hamm since 1987 , named after the former mayor Gustav Heinrich Kirchenpauer . The striking three-wing building opposite the main entrance to Hammer Park was built between 1928–1930 according to plans by Heinrich Bomhoff and Hermann Schöne and is a listed building. During the Second World War the building was used as a military hospital, and in the 1950s it also served as a trade school for a time. The Kirchenpauer-Gymnasium moved in 1986 to the location of the Gymnasium Borgfelde on Hammer Landstrasse and was merged there to form the Gymnasium Hamm . The school has been called Louise-Weiss-Gymnasium since August 2020 .
