Insa Sjurts

Insa Sjurts (born February 3, 1963 in Hamburg ) is a German economist and has been President of the HSBA Hamburg School of Business Administration since January 8, 2020 .

Life

Insa Sjurts studied business administration and social economy in Hamburg . From 1988 to 1989 she was employed as a member of the Management Board for Business Management at Gruner + Jahr AG & Co. KG (G + J) in Hamburg.

From 1989 to 1994 Sjurts worked as a research assistant at the chair for general business administration and at the chair for business administration, especially organizational theory , at the Helmut Schmidt University / University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg (HSU / UniBwH). In 1994 she did her doctorate at the Helmut Schmidt University. The subject of her dissertation was control, controlling and corporate management. Theoretical basics and problem solutions for operational and strategic management .

From 1994 to 2000 Insa Sjurts was a research assistant at the Helmut Schmidt University. In 1999 she completed her habilitation at the Helmut Schmidt University. Sjurts chose collective corporate strategy as the topic of her habilitation thesis . Basic questions of a theory of collective strategic action . In 2000 she was appointed university professor at the University of Flensburg .

In 2002 a visiting professorship for media management at the Leopold Franzens University in Innsbruck followed . From 2003 to 2008 Sjurts acted as academic director of the MBA courses in media management at the Hamburg Media School .

In 2006 Insa Sjurts took over the chair for general business administration, especially media management at the University of Hamburg. In the same year she was again a visiting professor for media management at the Leopold-Franzens-University Innsbruck . In 2007 she was appointed university professor at the University of Hamburg.

From 2008 to 2015 Sjurts was academic director of all courses and since February 1, 2009 managing director of the Hamburg Media School. Since 2007 she has also acted as chairperson of the Commission for Determining Concentration in the Media Sector (KEK).

In spring 2015 Sjurts was appointed as the new president and spokesperson for the management at Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen. There she also headed the chair for strategic management and media.

On August 26, 2019, she accepted the appointment as President of the HSBA Hamburg School of Business Administration . She officially took up this office on January 8, 2020.

Research priorities

Her main research interests are media management, strategic planning , organizational theory and organization design, corporate cultures , control and controlling , trust in organizations and the theory of cooperation and cooperation management.
