Gregori Warchavchik

Gregori Ilych Warchavchik (born April 2, 1896 in Odessa , † July 27, 1972 in São Paulo ) was a Brazilian architect . In his country he is considered to be one of the most important representatives of the first generation of classical modern architects .

Warchavchik first studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome before emigrating to Brazil in 1923, where he later also took citizenship. In 1927/28 he designed a house for himself in São Paulo, which today is considered the first modern house in Brazil. Among other things, he designed the Lasar Segall Museum in São Paulo, which opened in 1967 .
