  • as an alternative term to parasciences and cryptosciences
  • as a term for sciences that simultaneously touch two neighboring areas of science and

Frontier science as an alternative term for para- and cryptosciences

The term is practically used as an alternative to para and cryptosciences . These are ideas that have a scientific basis, but for which a generally accepted research success is still pending. An example of this is the title of the book "Grenzwissenschaftliche Experiments", which deals with the effects of amulets , levitation , ghost photography and the like. Ä. goes.

Frontier science as a natural science of several areas of science

Boundary sciences are those areas of science that can belong to either one or the other of two adjacent areas of science - examples are biophysics (biology / physics), geography (sociology, geology, ...)

Peter Lang, international publishing house of the sciences, describes "historical geography in the field of lifeworld environmental research", for example, as a border science between geography and history.

In the summary of a book by Hogrefe Verlag, the TRB describes criminology as a borderline science of the fields of criminal law and social science.

Science of boundaries

The University of St. Gallen published an article on the influence of borders on the economy and the development of spaces. In the foreword, regional science (ie the science of regions) is assigned “to a certain extent” to the border sciences.
