Gretl Dupont (born Margarete Scherk ; born March 16, 1893 in Homburg vor der Höhe , † November 29, 1965 in Los Angeles ) was a German actress .

Born Margarete Scherk, she appeared in the theater before the First World War and initially worked as a visiting tour artist. In the 20s followed his first smaller jobs in film, for example in 1926 in Das graue Haus and in Verbotene Liebe . In March 1930 she married the famous film director EA Dupont in London , with whom she emigrated to the USA at the beginning of 1933.

There Gretl Dupont resumed her work as an actress in 1939 and took part, especially during the Second World War, with tiny roles in a number of Hollywood films, which were mainly directed by German exiles such as Wilhelm Dieterle , Henry Koster and Fritz Lang . Some of these productions had anti-Nazi and propaganda content. In 1949 Gretl Dupont finally ended her film career.
