history
Gretsch-Unitas goes back to the company “Hermann Gretsch GmbH” founded by Viktor Gretsch in 1907 and the “UNITAS Metallwarenfabrik” in Stuttgart-Feuerbach. Viktor Gretsch made Johann Maus a partner and managing director in 1910. In 1938 there were first considerations to move the company headquarters from Feuerbach to Ditzingen. But they were not implemented until 1953. In 1973 the new administration building on Johann-Maus-Strasse in Ditzingen was inaugurated.
Julius Maus von Resch and Hans Maus developed the company further internationally. Through acquisitions, the company's own range of - in some cases patented - building fittings has been continuously expanded over the past decades. The most important acquisitions include the French fittings manufacturer Ferco SAS (1975), the German lock manufacturer BKS (1983) and most recently the automatic door manufacturer ATS GmbH (today: "GU Automatic GmbH") (2001). Today (2013) the group of companies is completely owned by the von Resch family and is managed by the brothers Julius and Michael von Resch.
